Roof Terrace Design Covent Garden

A funky, vibrant roof terrace in Covent Garden London designed and built by The Garden Builders. The Garden Builders were asked to transform an empty roof terrace with existing composite decking into a bright, chic, plant filled oasis, ideal for entertaining in the heart of London.

The main seating area consists of large, contemporary furniture on which to enjoy the stunning roof top views in great comfort. The’ Vitteo Pure Collection’ focal point is a bio-fuel burning fire table which enables the client to enjoy the luxurious space even on chillier evenings. While the Cantilevered parasol offers projection and shade on the hot Summer days.

Surrounding the seated heart of the terrace are powder coated aluminium planters, powdered coated in RAL Anthracite grey. The bespoke sized planters allows for a mixture of planting. Naturalistic planting was used along the long lower levels. While an Olive tree has been placed in the corner adding height and contrast. To the right of the terrace two lollipop trees sit in smaller cubed planters either side of a built-in bench. An aluminium subframe was attached to the planters with a Western Red Cedar timber bench cladding to provide a further seated spot to enjoy the view from another level.

Behind the bench stands a beautiful bespoke decorative screen, designed and manufactured by The Garden Builders. The powder coated aluminium screen with a laser cut leaf pattern adds a contrasting colour to the design of the terrace while providing essential privacy to the main seating area. At the end of the planters is a cushioned chest, providing further seating space while creating a camouflaged storage area for outdoor essentials.

To the right of the terrace a large artificial green wall supplied by vertical wall solutions company ‘VistaGreen’ provides colour to the terrace all year-round while minimising maintenance. Leading off from the seating area a long balcony extends the roof terrace. A Narrow planter with climbers offers a splash of green to the brickwork. Further planters ensures the continuity of the terrace and provides further naturalistic planting, complementing the London skyline. While three railing planters are bursting with herbs, providing fresh aromas and offering the keen cook fresh produce.

rrac An intimate seating area with minimalist furniture provides a private secluded area to dine. The end of the terrace is completed with an additional artificial green wall. Providing all year colour at either aspect while defining the terrace from the neighbouring wall. Complementing the colour scheme and bringing texture to the design further decorative screens from ‘Screen Envy’ are used along the wall of the apartment. Allowing subtle privacy while creating a contrast to the brick walls.

A highlight of this design and terrace must be the night aspect. From the client’s specifications a vibrant, changing lighting scheme was designed. The lighting was executed through the discreet placing of LED strips along planters and incorporated into wood panelling. By night this city tee is transformed by funky, bright lighting creating an atmospheric, fun environment to relax and entertain. Read more about Roof Terrace Design London.
