This south London urban garden has a clean, elegant look achieved by the expert combination of hard and soft landscaping. Distinct areas defined the lawn and the planting, with the sweeping lawn bordered by York Stone sets. Intricate York Stone paving characterised the scheme, used for the basement and entrance steps, the main terrace and for wall capping detailing. The project required careful laying of the stone works, which had to be fitted around complicated glass and steel structures.
Large trees also needed to be craned into position then secured with an underground tree anchor system after planting. A discreet irrigation system supplies watering to the lawn and planting areas. The hard and soft landscaping elements both incorporate visible and discreet lighting to provide attractive evening illumination for the garden.
