Family Garden Richmond

Designed & constructed by The Garden Builders

City Family Garden Surrey

The formal front garden is an elegant combination of traditional design and modern chic. The Victorian tiled path offers in black and white Dorchester pattern with Byron border sits gracefully by the minimal, modern look of the garden, completed with artificial grass bordered by black limestone and silver granite decorative gravel. The crisp space is highlighted by topiary lollipop trees with mixed under-planting.

The design continues to the rear garden, which is also a smart mix of traditional and contemporary. The space is designed to be family-friendly and includes a formal lawn area, a paved patio and, further out to the back, several decorative raised beds. The dominant focal point in the rear garden is a striking letterbox water feature spilling water down the raised bed, bracketed by two specimen Trachycarpus palm trees. The garden is edged by beautiful mixed planting. The paved terrace is given a relaxed yet stylish feel by rattan furniture in a chic cubic design. The fencing was painted to match the interior of the house.

A fine example of small garden design in Richmond Surrey, this family garden is an elegant combination of traditional design and modern chic. Composed of a formal front garden and a stylishly functional relaxation zone at the back, the garden cleverly creates the illusion of spaciousness, with dynamic elements that both suggest depth and movement. Classic and contemporary elements work well together to maximise the limited space and provide this city garden with its distinctive charm. As with every project we undertake, the Garden Builders worked closely with the client during the design process to ensure the garden meets all the needs of the family and create an inspiring outdoors environment they can enjoy for years.

Surrey Garden Design

The formal front garden evokes simple and easy refinement, with a seamless harmony of structure and pattern, achieved through hard and soft landscaping elements. The front path is laid with classic Victorian tiles in a black and white Dorchester pattern with a Byron border. With its timeless geometric design, the path becomes a striking focal point of the front garden. This formal garden also has a strong, minimal, modern look, featuring a stylised rug of artificial grass surrounded by a wide border of limestone and silver-granite decorative gravel edged by slate paving. Structure is also realised with attractive topiary lollipop trees which are strategically placed at the corners, then set off with mixed under-planting. The colour scheme of white, black and slate likewise is echoed in the property's facade.

The garden design is replicated for the rear garden, which is also a smart mix of traditional and contemporary. The space is designed to be family-friendly, for both relaxation and entertainment, with the back garden serving as outdoor room. The formal lawn area again creates the illusion of bigger space, complemented by a paved patio and several decorative raised beds.

The dominant focal point in the rear garden is a sophisticated letterbox water feature that spills water down the raised beds. Two specimen Trachycarpus palm trees on either side add tropical lushness to the set-up. The garden is edged by beautiful mixed planting. The paved terrace is given a relaxed yet stylish feel by rattan furniture in a chic rubic design. The fencing was painted to match the interior of the house.

Among garden designers working in Richmond Surrey, we take pride in providing a professional design service that meets and exceeds customer expectations, delivering a construction project within budget and on schedule, with close attention to every detail of quality, structural integrity and finishing. We encourage the closest collaboration possible with the client, making sure through constant consultation that they have a wide understanding and appreciation of all aspects of the project. We start each project with an initial site inspection to assess the conditions and possibilities of the proposed garden space. This Site Survey includes a careful and comprehensive measurement of the garden.

Our design services include presenting a number of garden design options to the client, to choose from among formal, traditional or contemporary schemes, or a combination of styles, as seen in this small garden design in Richmond Surrey, an uplifting blend of classic and contemporary influences. We provided both computer- and hand-generated visualisations for the client to fully apprehend all details, from the heights and levels involved to all aspects of every feature, the planting scheme, furniture and lighting.

We produce a Master Plan, the comprehensive and highly detailed plan drawn to scale which serves as blueprint for garden construction, containing all the specifications and measurements needed for the project. Each element is described in full detail, and can come with a written, detailed cost breakdown, if requested. It is important to provide these technical detail drawings to ensure the garden is built as designed and planned. These detail drawings are critical to the construction of the garden's features, such as retaining walls, screening, customised benches, pergolas and other features. We also provide the Planting Detail, where we also take care to include the client's preferences. With our extensive horticultural background, the Garden Builders are well-placed among garden designers in Richmond Surrey to create the most effective planting schemes with our vast knowledge of plants and their ideal environments. Each member of the Garden Builders team has horticultural training. A supplementary plan, the lighting layout, can be included to provide a well-designed lighting scheme that enhances the overall impact of the garden and create a distinct character to the garden at night. The lighting layout is designed to be easily followed by the client's electrician, with colour coding to identify the positions of the lighting fittings throughout the garden.
