This BALI award winning garden was designed for a couple that loved oriental gardens. The garden was excavated out to create a lower courtyard which featured a striking, hard-made, Oriental gazebo with a copper roof. Stepping up from the sunken courtyard, one would cross an L-shaped still pool which was surrounded by a paved area leading onto a large decked terrace. This area featured a 3m x 3m outside mirror which increased the sense of space and provided a Tai Chi practice area for the client. The planting was consistent with an oriental theme of bamboo, Japanese maples and palm trees. The result was a space that engendered contemplation and relaxation.
