  • RHS Silver Gilt Winner 11: Kate Gould - Magistrates Garden

Send To A Friend RHS Silver Gilt Winner 11
A large space for a grand house situated in central London. The landscaping and planting closest to the house is more formal, such as sawn York stone and clipped box hedging and standard bay trees.

These materials and planting are carried through the rest of the garden and become more rural in feel towards the end of the space. The sawn stone paving and dry-stone wall effect raised beds are all softened by lush mixed perennial planting interspersed with evergreen specimens. Cleverly the planting is both formal and naturalistic.

A large lawn space and play area was an important requirement for this family as was a secondary entertaining and formal seating area adjacent to the architect designed glass, wood and stone family pavilion. The garden is successfully screened from the surrounding spaces by way of bespoke, ornamental trellis. A wide selection of Hunza lighting illuminates the garden in the evening controlled by the main Lutron system.
