Project 51

Project 51 | Helios Garden Design | Nike

This garden project was commissioned by Nike. Garden Design by Helios Garden Design and the feature artwork by Benedict Radcliffe. It is a community garden space used by various local clubs and societies.

There was a strict deadline for the construction works in order to meet a 'grand opening' date. Seven days were set aside for the works to be completed but all works were completed 24 hours ahead of schedule.

The seating and raised planters were designed with people in mind. A place to meet, sit and relax within the space. Ipe hardwood decking fitted over a treated softwood framework forms a stepped seating platform. The decking was left as a natural finish. The raised planters are full of evergreen and perennial planting with tall birch trees to give height to the scheme. A green wall offers an exciting change of texture to the scheme and sits alongside an existing mural. Sophisticated irrigated is installed keeping the planting looking healthy and lush.

The existing concrete surface was pressure cleaned and painted with a soft 'muted grey' specialist concrete paint finish.

Benedict Radcliffe was commissioned by Nike Sportswear to design a garden and sculpture for their 1948 store in Shoreditch, East London. Benedict worked with Kate Gould from Helios Garden Design to produce AIR SCULPTURE GARDEN featuring a wall mural and wireframe sculpture of the iconic Air Max trainer.
