Send To A Friend Nike Garden, Shoreditch, London (designed by Kate Gould Garden Design)
The clients requested 'stadium style' seating for this commercial
'community orientated' pop up shop garden space in Shoreditch, London.
The space is used as a meeting, viewing and gallery space.
The existing courtyard space had a very uneven floor but this element
had to be worked with due to the lease constrains affecting the
temporary nature of the garden. In fact all structures in the garden are
essentially 'free-standing' and not attached to walls. The floor was
finished with a non-slip exterior pedestrian paint.
A simple, smart and functional seating area was created with ipe
hardwood deck boards cleverly overcoming the uneven floor. Two side
planting beds and a corner planter were created using the same deck
boards and filled with dramatic, lush planting. A beautiful green wall
structure was planted up complete with internal irrigation system and
timer, providing additional planting interest in the urban courtyard
space.
Stainless steel wires cleverly criss-cross the courtyard above head
height reflecting the form of the sculpture and mural artwork within the
space. The red coloured wall artwork was created by artist/sculptor
Benedict Radcliffe, along with the very funky over-sized trainer
sculpture.
