Project 10 | M Beaufort & J Nicolas | Chelsea
This formal garden was designed to complement a palatial property for an international client. A major technical challenge was to build a free draining 35 m lawn over the top of a recently completed underground swimming pool. The lawn was formally edged with machine-cut Yorkstone providing definition and a pathway to the rear. Raised brick beds were built to complement the existing brickwork of the house, and hand-made trellis panels run the entire length of the garden. Instant maturity was created using specimen evergreen oak trees imported from Italy, and mature box hedging, cut and shaped on site. The planting theme was white and blue, featuring plants such as pittosporum, convolvulus, lavender, anemone and euphorbia. Up-lighting was added to show off the specimen trees at night.
