Water Walls

Water Walls
Free standing water walls can be formed from a variety/combination of materials including stainless steel, stone / granite, acrylic, glass etc.

Water walls can be fully self-contained and therefore suited to placing indoors as well as outside in the garden or courtyard. Mains water connection isnít always necessary.

There are countless shapes, sizes and designs possible for water walls. Things to consider when thinking of installing a water wall are your intended budget, details of the installation area, can a water wall be attached to a wall for additional support? Will the feature be open to the public or placed in a private area? An electrical supply will be required as will waterproof lighting.
The stone water wall diagram and image show a finished stone water wall in a recently completed project. A concrete foundation was poured into an excavated area with a Sika water proofing additive incorporated into the mix. Concrete block walls are built with an internal cavity. This allows for the pipe works to the upper stainless steel holding tank to be concealed. The water then cascades down over the stone and down into the pool below. Precise measurements have to be taken in order to make sure the tank fits correctly in the cavity. This is usually done after the wall is built to allow for any slight size discrepancies in the wall. The stainless steel lid stops any waste blowing into the tank and stopping water flow. The water wall is clad with slate usually 20mm thick.

The base tank indicated on the plan has a rendered wall with a Sika waterproofing additive and a fibreglass finsh.

The water pump in this diagram is a submersible pump, without a filter system. Another pump can be fitted to circulate the water through a UV/Filter system to keep the water cleaner. Decking timber is shown on this diagram to complete the scheme which disguises the chamber. Other methods can be used to hide the chamber but this will depend on the final design.
